POLL: Are You Tired of You Tube Videos That Misrepresent Themselves?
The number of clips on You Tube who's caption misrepresent the actual content has become epidemic. A clip that claims to be of an old Abbot and Costello movie turns out to be just a poster of the film. A clip that claims to be of Bigfoot and has a caption of a hairy creature turns out to be nothing more than the camera focused on a person's foot. A clip that supposedly shows a flying lizard turns out to be a kite. Such nonsense can get hundreds of thousands and even millions of clicks. That’s good for those collecting checks from You Tube for such misrepresentations, but it is extremely frustrating for viewers. It discourages one from even bothering to view items on You Tube and reduces the credibility of You Tube. Furthermore, those people who actually have captured something unique on film can receive far fewer clicks because of all of the misrepresentations. You Tube needs to do more to discourage such misrepresentations.
